Hi my name is Alex
I have two children Lily and Jack.
I was diagnosed with Postnatal Depression and Anxiety (PNDA) after the traumatic birth of my son Jack in May 2020, during the height of the first wave of COVID-19.
Having a baby during the pandemic has been the hardest thing I have ever done. The sense of despair and isolation I felt was been so acute at times it is hard to process.
The traumatic birth triggered previous PTSD and unfortunately I went on a downward spiral.
The strict border closures meant that my mum could not travel from the UK to provide me with my crucial support system. My perinatal mental health severely declined leading to my diagnosis.
I know first hand how horrific PNDA is.
When I was in the depths of my despair I did not know where to turn or how to get help.
If I knew that there were organisations out there that offer free help, I strongly believe I would not have suffered as much as I did.
I want to create a platform to change peoples lives and have a simplified solution to access all the incredible organisations and resources out there.
Please know you are not alone
